Thursday

Well...we are on the road again tomorrow morning. Don't know if we will have internet for a while, so be patient and I will post again when I find a connection. We are heading north--don't have plans for the next couple days, but will be in Broward County Parks for 5 days after that. One of them has a skeet shooting range and we will be there two days! After that we are heading towards Polk City, then on to a county park in Melbourne for four days. We have two days booked at Huegnot near Jacksonville and three at Ft. Clinch on the FL-GA boarder. So the rest of the trip is more or less planned.
It rained this morning then we went to an historical museum/park. It was an area of Marathon that is in a land trust--lots of neat hiking trails and three old houses and a bird rehab place on the property. Quite interesting. Above are pictures of an injured hawk and a very strange spider we saw along the trail. The spider is not carrying something--the red is part of his body. We had a picnic lunch at a little beach on seven mile bridge. While we were there R. said that is was the most unphotogenic beach he had ever seen...so, guess what! N. took a picture. We went to Sombrero Beach for the rest of the day and took in some rays. We decided to have a special meal for the last one on the Keys....Shrimp coctail, sish-k-bobs on the grill and fresh sweet corn. I decided that the shrimp I begged so hard for deserved to be buried under the rug, but I loved the whip-cream on top of the key lime pie we had for desert. I'll miss being here in the keys---great bugs on the screens and there are two wood-peckers right outside my window, but I'm anxious to see all the new things the next few weeks.

About Me

My photo
I am a Swantonian Bushcat. (I was born under a bush in Swanton Ohio),but my people think that I have a lot of Chartreaux in my bloodline because I pray for what I want, am very quiet, lay on my back a lot, and am shaped much like a potato on toothpicks.
