It has been a busy week for us. We got into a county campground in Ruskin FL. on Monday and spent three days there. They don’t take reservations and it is a first-come thing. It is a nice place, all campsites are on a saltwater canal and Tampa Bay is less than a quarter mile away. (See picture above; water is behind the picnic table) R's birthday was celebrated by cooking steak on the grill beside the water. (See pic below- I'm waiting for my share of the cake!) While we were in Ruskin, we picnicked on the Gulf of Mexico, went to the pier in St. Petersburg, visited Sunken Gardens, had lunch at historic Ybor City in Tampa, toured a really super historical complex in Bradenton and checked out the beaches in the area. Among the buildings at the historical complex were the oldest courthouse in Florida (see R. above sitting in the judges chair) and an old church.
Today we packed up and moved to Pine Island near Ft. Meyers. The campground is very big, used to be a KOA. There isn’t much on this island, no beach because it is a mangrove island…just lots of boats and snowbirds. We will be here three days.
Tomorrow we are going to Edison and Ford's winter homes and then out to eat with a friend of N's.
