It’s time to catch everyone up on what’s been going on with us. It’s been cool here, but better than being in the north. The usual things have been going on: playing cards, eating out with friends, going to other things at the campground. A couple of weeks ago some friends of the humans came to visit (Tom and Joyce from Swanton) I remember them because they came to the camper when we went down for the humans’ 50th class reunion. They lucked out because it was a cold day and they were able to go see the manatees. When they got there this time there was a person from Florida Wildlife there and he said that earlier that day there was 175 manatees, but by the time we got there, only about 125 remained. That’s still a lot of manatees and a little tiny canal. I’m really glad I didn’t go with them I think they look scary.
Besides the weekly bingo, cards, coffee, and sewing there has been have couple special things going on. A couple weeks ago we had a pancake breakfast cooked outdoors. It was a big hit and from my window I counted over 80 people there. Also there was a dance and it was kind of strange because people came in their pajamas! I didn’t know people wore pajamas to a dance. Nancy said it was called a pajama dance. Before the dance they had a soup and salad supper. It was a pretty cool evening and they even had a bonfire at the dance. That was a pretty good trick because ground fires aren’t allowed here (actually it was a paper log in a little fire pit).
Ron has been going to the gym three times a week and Nancy is going to water aerobics. They ride their bikes all over when it is warm enough. Ron goes shooting a couple times a week. Me? I’m perfecting my napping positions. Nancy says that I’ve worn a divot in my favorite recliner----I think she is exaggerating.
If you are missing summer, Dirk had this video made about water skiing (and his cars
and ski school staff). You might enjoy it.
