Today is our last day in Melbourne---time to start heading home. (Darn---I’m going to miss the warm weather and having the windows open so I can watch all the birds and people go by). Yesterday was the first day in 18 days that the temperature didn’t get above 80 degrees. It is cool again today and raining off and on. This is the first day since we left Michigan that it has rained during the day. We had a couple little showers at night---but everything was dry by the time we got up.
The humans have been busy since we got back here. As usual they spent most of the time on the beach. Wednesday night they went to a free swing concert. Melbourne community band’s swing band put on a tribute to Harry James. One of the trombone players, Craig Hart, played with the Lawrence Welk Orchestra, and one of the featured singers was Sally Flynn, who replaced the Lennon singers when they left Lawrence Welk. Good music and fun evening.

Yesterday they went to Viera. It is a new city in Bevard County created out of sod farms and cattle ranches. Lovely big homes, golf courses and shopping. There is a really neat wet lands there (actually it is the holding ponds for the sewage treatment plant) with lots of wildlife and plants. You can drive all around the ponds on a raised road and take pictures. I would have liked to get my teeth into some of the ducks!
Today they went to the local flea market. Luckily they never seem to bring back any fleas---this time it was just a bag of tomatoes. Right now R. is washing the truck (between raindrops) and packing things up to leave tomorrow.
I’m not sure when we will have internet again—so I will update you all when I can.
