Slowly Heading North

Wakulla Springs
We have been moving every couple days and have been seeing lots of neat things.  After we left Mt Dora, out next stop was Carrabelle Florida. We stayed in a place (Carrabelle RV Resort) we have stayed before, not a lot for me to watch in the way of wildlife, but I can see the Gulf of Mexico from the window.  The humans left me almost all day yesterday while they went exploring with Nancy's cousin Rod and his wife Connie.

First they went to Wakulla Springs.

These springs are some of the largest and deepest freshwater springs in the world. They have been the back-drop for several movies, including Airplane, Tarzan, and Creature from the Black Lagoon.  They are also the home to abundant wildlife and plants.  Nancy and her cousin Rod took so many pictures; I can’t decide which one to share with you!  Next they were off to St. Mark’s National Wildlife Preserve.  After seeing lots of neat birds (why don’t they ever take me along when there are birds?), they stopped for pizza and returned just in time to give me treats.

The next day my humans went exploring along the Gulf.  They drove out to St. George Island and back.  Rod and Connie came over for a

steak cook-out in the evening.  It was raining so they had to eat in the camper.  Since heavy rain was predicted for the next day, we decided to stay another day and do the laundry.

One of the beautiful homes in Eufaula
We were up bright and early the next day and off to out next stop---Eufaula, Alabama. On the way I saw something beautiful---a bald eagle just sitting in the middle of a field with its prey.  Nancy couldn't get a picture and Ron couldn't find a place to turn the trailer around---oh well.   In Eufaula we stayed at White Oak Creek Campground,  an Army Corps of Engineers park along the Chattahoochee River (Actually we were on Walter F. George Lake, which is a wide spot in the river).  We had a beautiful campsite right beside the lake/river. The town is noted for its abundance of old/beautiful homes. After picking up a map of the walking/driving tour of the houses at the Chamber of Commerce my humans spent Easter Sunday checking them out.
DeSoto Falls
Our next stop was Desoto State Park on top of Lookout Mountain near Fort Payne Alabama.  What a nice park—full hook-ups and cable in a state park!  The birds were abundant and I even saw two tufted titmice land on our picnic table, right beside Nancy.  You can bet if I had been outside, they would have thought twice before landing there!  There are lots of waterfalls in the area, so I curled up in my sunny spot, while the humans spent a couple days checking them out.  Little River Canyon National Preserve is nearby and one day they took the scenic drive through it.

Another day they went to Scottboro the check out the unclaimed baggage store.  It is amazing what people lose when they travel by plane.  They found several bargains, but nothing for me.  I guess cats don’t lose things when they travel.

The humans decided that it was time for us to head home. Last night we were in Georgetown KY and tonight we are in Wapakoneta Ohio.

About Me

My photo
I am a Swantonian Bushcat. (I was born under a bush in Swanton Ohio),but my people think that I have a lot of Chartreaux in my bloodline because I pray for what I want, am very quiet, lay on my back a lot, and am shaped much like a potato on toothpicks.
