Harbour at Plymouth

Mayflower Passenger John Howland
Monument to Pilgrims
Sunday the humans got up early and were off again---This time they left the Cape and drove to Plymouth Massachusetts.  Nancy was especially excited because four of her ancestors arrived on the Mayflower and lived in Plymouth.  The oldest home in Plymouth was actually lived in by at least one, if not two of them.  It was the home of Jabez Howland. ( His parents, John Howland and Elizabeth Tilley, came over on the Mayflower, along with his mother’s parents, John Tilley and Joan Hurst Tilley.)   It is known that Elizabeth Tilley Howland lived with her son Jabez and it is thought that John Howland also lived with Jabez after his home in Rocky Nook, just outside of town, burned.  They got to tour the house and found out a lot of good info about the Howland family.  After they checked out the Mayflower II and Plymouth Rock, visited the cemetery were John Howland is buried, drove out to see where Rocky Nook was located, and ate a great Mexican meal in an old fire station, they came home to feed me treats.

Monday they decided to drive another direction and visit the only two towns on the Cape that they had not visited: Falmouth and Woods Hole.  The harbor at Falmouth was beautiful and they could see the islands of Maratha’s Vineyard and Nantucket from the shore.

I don't understand what happened, but we are back at the campground with the canal and all the neat boats going by.

Yesterday a man in a noisy truck came and I got shoved into my carrier and put into that little car that the humans have been driving.  The man hooked up our trailer and hauled it down the road.  We followed behind.  We ended up at Bourne Scenic Campground by the canal at Cape Cod.  The humans are hoping that the truck will be ready by late Thursday or early Friday and we can be headed home. After we got set-up, we just hung out and watched TV.  It was good not to be left alone all day.

Since the humans' ultimate goal for this trip was to go to Rhode Island so they could fill in that state on the map on the side of the camper, they drove over there today.  I think we are going to go through RI on our way home, but they decided to go there, in case we took a different way home.  On the way they drove through Fairhaven and New Bedford.  Both were/are fishing ports.  They could see many commercial fishing boats lined up in the harbor.  It was a beautiful drive through the seaport towns and the fall colors on the freeway on the way home were beautiful.  They got back to me early so I could tell them about the huge squirrels that I scared away from the camper.

Just before I got ready to post this, Ron got a call from the auto dealer that is fixing the transmission.  The transmission that is being shipped here is lost!  The carrier that GM used to ship it here went bankrupt after they put our transmission on the truck.  Looks like we are here for a while longer.......

About Me

My photo
I am a Swantonian Bushcat. (I was born under a bush in Swanton Ohio),but my people think that I have a lot of Chartreaux in my bloodline because I pray for what I want, am very quiet, lay on my back a lot, and am shaped much like a potato on toothpicks.
